Last November 30 to December 5, the 7th International Young Mathematician’s Convention was held at Lucknow, India. Among the numerous countries that participated in the competition, the Philippine Team was able to emerge as the overall champions in the senior division of the said competition.
The young Filipinos were able to bag 32 medals: 23 gold, 6 silver, and three bronze medals. They were also able to take home eight champion awards, five first runners-up and two second runners-up awards in the team competition, math quiz as well as math relay contest.
MTG (Mathematics Trainers’ Guild) Philippines’ Myrna Agtarap, Manuel Kotah, James Kelvin Martin and Renard Eric Chua accompanied the delegates at the Philippine team leaders.
India finished second place, and Vietnam finished third. The other participating countries are, Bangladesh, Brazil Bhutan, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Nigeria, Russia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
