This Wireless Charger Can Power Your Phone From 30 Feet Away

Nope, it’s not like the other wireless chargers out in the market!

The days wherein we are to plug our smartphones and other battery powered devices every night are now numbered! The tech firm Ossia has now developed a wireless charging system named Cota. This charging system is able to charge a phone cross-distance, and draws power from a base station that is similar to WiFi. You know what this means–no more plugging devices into that wall, and no more replacing dead batteries.

According to their website: “Cota is real wireless power. A single Cota power charger gives you more freedom by powering any Cota-equipped device within a 30 foot radius, breaking new grounds in wireless power technology.”

In an article from Inverse, the founder and CTO Hatem Zeine said that, “People are still wondering whether wireless power is possible. We’ve been demonstrating wireless power for over three years now, in public, and we’ve been doing it in private for another three years before that!”

Ossia partners are now free to develop wireless charging technology into their products, along with all the documentations, hardware, software, and licenses which are provided on a contractual basis. The kit will allow developers to build a Cota system that is fully functional. The company will also continue working with other strategic partners to develop commercial uses for this product. Smartphones that use this technology can reach the market as the end of 2017.

How Does It Work?

Cota is built on Ossia’s patented smart antenna technology. It keeps different devices such as smartphones, digital cameras, controllers, etc. remotely and automatically charges so you won’t have to worry about your devices running out of juice. With Cota, you are able to pair numerous devices into one system. You don’t even have to remember to charge your devices, it does it on its own. You’ll be worry free.

Cota is also safe, since the technology works through a special power charger that focuses and delivers energy to certain locations and devices “safely and intelligently”. Power that is delivered by a Cota power charger moves around obstacles and uses network of compact antennas as well as a small power receiver to send and receive Cota power signals. If there are no obstructions in the path of the signals, the technology will search for other paths to re-deliver power to your different devices. The device conforms to regulatory guidelines and therefor making it extremely safe for people, children, as well as pets.

The Cota power receiver is so small that it can easily be embedded into almost any wireless gadget so it can charge when it’s within 30 feet of a Cota power transmitter. If you have Cota power receivers built into your everyday devices, and a Cota power transmitter is found at home, work, and coffee shops, you won’t ever have to worry about recharging your gadgets again.
