Dubai’s Cool Firefighters Literally Rise Above Water To Fight Fire

Now, firefighters in Dubai found an easier way to fight fire along the city’s extensive shoreline.

Don’t you just hate it when there’s a huge fire near your place yet the firefighters are nowhere to be seen? People accuse these firemen with no sense of urgency when the real problem is they’re just stuck in traffic. That’s how it’s always been in every major city. Properties have been damaged and people are already hurt but firefighters are still trying to cross the road because of the terrible traffic jam on their way to the fire.

Now, firefighters in Dubai found an easier way to fight fire along the city’s extensive shoreline. Using a jet ski that comes with a jetpack, firefighters use the ‘Dolphin’ device as a solution to stop the fire from spreading without getting caught in traffic. Using the device, the firefighter can ride through the waterways and rise above the water using water pressure coming from the attached jet ski. A fire hose is used to tackle the blaze quickly.

This new device has been released to the public through a promotional video where a firefighter uses a jetski to make his way to a burning car on a bridge. He uses his jet pack to rise above and uses the fire hose to stop the fire. No traffic, no problem! This makes Dubai’s firefighters cool, right?

Back in 2015, Dubai signed a deal with Martin Aircraft, a New Zealand company, to develop the system for Dolphin. Each jetpack costs around $35,000 and the city has around 20 of it available for use. Dubai Civil Defense’ Lt. Col Ali Almutawa once said: “Dubai is one of the fastest-growing future cities in the world with its modern skyscrapers and vast infrastructure … the introduction of Martin jetpacks into our fleet of emergency response vehicles is another example of how Dubai leads the world.” His comment was given when the initiative of such device was revealed last 2015.
