After having the tallest tower, Dubai now also has the longest driverless metro network or known as the Dubai Metro. Dubai is just on the roll, from the tallest, longest and to the biggest.
The Dubai Metwo has green and red line networks that managed to secure its name in the Guinness Book of World Records. Why? It has the longest driverless metro network measuring 74.695 kilometers. It has been designed to support the economic growth in the country. It is also the first urban railway station in th Gulf States. It began operating partially in the year 2009.

No doubt it has been able to beat the Vancouver Sky Train that is 68.7 kilometer long. Do you have any idea about the number of passenger this metro will be able carry on a typical day? It just can carry 1.2 million passengers. That many!
It aims to reduce the escalating number of traffic congestion that stems from the rapid growth in population. Before Red line was inaugurated, people used public transport like the water buses and the land buses. So, in order to encourage the people to take on the metro ride they kept the fare of the metro equivalent to the bus fares.

The full automated operation of the metro is based on the subsidiary of the Thales Group called the Thales Rail Signaling Solutions’s SelTrac IS communications. The system has been configured in such a way that it gives headway of ninety seconds and an unbelievable maximum speed of 90km/hr.
The RTA then tried integrating a smart card system that will be touch-on-touch for fare payment system. This started operating in the year 2010. Having 47 stations, this metro is indeed a convenient ride for the public in Dubai.
