Here’s What to Check Out in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus

The reviews so far are mostly positive.

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S8, with a hope to save its face from the Note 7 hullaballoo last summer. And so far, the reviews are mostly positive.

The selling points of the new Android devices, according to one review, is its display, which is ‘unlike any other device available’, and its assistant named Bixby, which is newly acquired by Samsung.

Another review said in particular that it is the rounded edges and stripped away bezels, light weight and the removal of the home button that makes this Samsung phone admirable. Yup, no home button.

There are two versions of the new Samsung smartphones: the standard Galaxy S8 with a 5.8” AMOLED display, and the S8 Plus which is larger at 6.2-inch AMOLED display. Both resolutions are 2960 x 1440. The pixel densities are 570 per inch and 529 per inch for S8 and S8 Plus, respectively.

Both have 12 MP rear camera with dual pixel and 8MP front camera. They have 32 GB internal storage but is expandable. Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus run on a 160mAh Li-ion battery.

They are pretty fast too considering that each house the industry’s first 10nm chip for speedy processing. And oh, they are water-resistant!

Security features include a fingerprint sensor on the back so the smartphone can be unlocked by picking it up and a facial recognition unlock.

The two can be used together with smart home products. They can connect to Samsung’s smart fridge, which allows the user to take snaps of the contents and stream directly to the phones. They can control a Samsung hooverbot, too.

Moreover, the company has developed a docking system called Samsung Dex, which lets the apps on the S8 be viewable on the computer and even turn the mobile into a desktop PC. That paves a way for the user to take calls using the speaker on the computer – all the user has to do is tuck the device into the dock.
