Electric car technology is not at all new in the automobile industry. Several automakers have already turned themselves to electric vehicles or EVs in the last 5 years, because it is a much environment-friendly alternative to gasoline-powered cars.
The heart of an EV is its battery, which is why many EV manufacturers focus on developing this technology. And so far, an Israeli startup is leading in this aspect.
StoreDot is famous for their fast-charging batteries, but perhaps it deserves more attention for creating an EV model which beats others in terms of its exceptional battery charging time and range.
It claims that its EV battery, called FlashBattery, can be charged fully within only 5 minutes and be driven for 300 miles in one charge. In contrast, Tesla’s Supercharger is able to full charge one of the brand’s car for around 2 hours.
FlashBattery has a fast charging time because it uses layers of nanomaterials and proprietary organic compounds, something that the company’s engineer say have never been used on batteries before.

According to the company, another added value of its battery technology is that it is safer than lithium-ion, being not flammabale with a higher combustion temperature.
“Fast Charging is the critical missing link needed to make electric vehicles ubiquitous,” said StoreDot CEO Dr. Doron Myersdorf in a statement.
“The currently available battery technology dictates long charging times which makes the EV form of transportation inadequate for the public at large. We’re exploring options with a few strategic partners in the auto space to help us boost the production process in Asia and reach mass production as soon as possible,” he added.
Skeptics should have seen StoreDot’s battery in a demonstration in the CUBE Tech Fair in Berlin. While it didn’t go full charge within the presentation as they had to pack up before it was done, the audience were able to see how fast the battery was able to absorb the electricity.
