We posted a note-taking guide for engineering students but it appears that we have missed something important: there are universities now that allow technologies for note-taking in classes, since they render to be faster and more efficient. If you are lucky to have the convenience of being allowed to take notes using a laptop or a tablet, this article is for you. Coming in close as the best note-taking app is Microsoft’s OneNote. It goes along with the rest of the Office apps, so it’s also confusing to work with upon first try. If you are already using Word and PowerPoint, using OneNote wouldn’t be so much a hassle. It shares the same features with Evernote in terms of importing images into notes, drawing directly on notes with a stylus, recording audio to notes, and easily saving links from any browser. You can share notes with your classmates too. But probably the best thing about this is it’s entirely free.
Google Keep

Available on web, Android and iOS, this free note-taking app by Google allows engineering students to capture notes, lists, photos and audio. It also lets you to organize notes easily using a color-coded system, look for anything with a powerful search engine and share notes with others. All of your notes are synced with your Google account. Learning it is perhaps the easiest in this list – but being too easy, it doesn’t have text formatting and folder organization.

If you are only bound to note entirely text – phrases and sentences – this is the app for you. This plain text editor is free on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. It comes with a few organizational tools, with no formatting, no adding of images, audio or video, and web clippings – just text, as mentioned.
